Lawrence-Hall Consultants is the only consultancy company with worldwide experience of the Damas system.

Lawrence-Hall Consultants were the original company who, in conjunction with the NADL and the DLA (UK) developed and introduced the Damas system into North America.

Lawrence-Hall Consultants have extensive experience in the implementation of DAMAS (Dental Appliance Manufacturers Audit Scheme) within the UK, USA, Canada, Mexico, the Middle East and Asia including China.

For a negotiated modest fee we offer a complete service including preparing all necessary documentation, assistance in the implementation of the standard, training and application for certification.  We guarantee successful certification. DAMAS is administrated by The National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL) for and on behalf of whom Lawrence-Hall are the accredited consultants, and trainers.

The DAMAS Scheme meets the requirements of the mandatory FDA legislation applicable to
dental laboratories. DAMAS was originally introduced in the UK in the mid nineties as a much less expensive alternative to ISO9000 in order to meet the requirements of the European Medical Device Directive.

ISO9000 is a general standard for all industries. ISO13485 is based upon ISO9000 with additional particular requirements for the manufacture/distribution of medical devices in a mass production environment. It was felt that both these standards were over prescriptive for the “custom made” dental laboratory and required excessive time and costs in their implementation.

By achieving certification to DAMAS a dental laboratory meets the FDA mandatory requirements and also demonstrates to its customers that it exercises thorough control and monitoring of its manufacturing processes.

The DAMAS system indicates that the lab operate an inspection and quality control system that has been assessed and approved by a recognised Certification Body.

The DAMAS process is intended to help dental laboratories meet the mandatory quality system/good manufacturing practice (GMP) requirements required by the US Food & Drug Administration.
